So you’re stuck? I mean really stuck, with a problem on your PC. Perhaps you don’t know how to install a new email account or you think you have a virus and don’t know how to eliminate it. Wouldn’t it be great if someone could simply connect to your PC and remotely fix the problem. Luckily, this is fairly easy these days. All you need is a reasonable internet connection and some free software.
I have personally used Teamviewer remote connection software for a few years now and can remotely log into any of my machines, even via a mobile phone. It’s safe, secure and easy to use. Although unattended logins like this are possible, for support only purposes, where the owner is present at the machine, Teamviewer can be set up to be activated only at request of the owner.
How to install
Visit the Teamviewer website and download the software.
Double click on the downloaded item to start the installation process.
This software needs administrator rights to be installed, so accept the initial Windows security warning you might see. Actually most installed software needs this so nothing to be alarmed about.
Choose your Installation
On the first installation dialogue, you are present with a choice.
If you only want support on your PC and don’t need to connect remotely yourself, from another machine, choose “Basic Installation”
If you would like to be able to remotely access your own machine, perhaps from work or even from your phone, choose “Installation to access this computer remotely (unattended)
